(Rumex acetosella) Perennial in the Buckwheat Family, native to Eurasia. Small (1-3”) arrow-shaped leaves, sour in flavor. Ground-cover habit that forms a spreading mat. One of the Essiac Herbs, claimed to be anti-cancer. Very drought-tolerant once established.
Planting suggestions: Thrives on poor, disturbed soils, including heavy clay. Full sun. Direct-sow seeds around time of Final Frost, or earlier. Germination might be erratic and spread out over time. Thin to 6-12” apart.
