Coreopsis, Crazy Mix
(Coreopsis tinctoria) Annual in the Composite Family. Very thin-leafed foliage on plants to 3-feet. Blossoms until frost. This is our own in-house mix, which we began breeding for crazy appearance in 2005. Crimson and gold are the only two colors in the pallette, but they combine in a variety of different ways, from simple solids, to two-tones, to patterns like paint splatters. Some blossoms also have an extra row of smaller petals, or petals that hold a trumpet shape. “Wow” is the word we use to describe some of the unique flowers in this mix.
Planting suggestions: Direct seed around the time of the last frost. Thin to 12-18 inches apart. Deadhead to encourage fresh blossoms. Will self-sow readily.
