There are about 80 different varieties of Ground Cherries. 70 days. Huge yields of sweet and savory tomato-like fruit but related closely to the tomatillo. This type used by the Pilgrims of New England by way of Indigenous Americans. They say they made excellent pies, jams, and preserves. They are delicious fresh and can be made into salsa, used on salads or dried into raisins. The fruit grows inside a paper-like husk (the same as tomatillos). Grow it the same as you would tomatoes. Usually ready for harvest when yellow or when the hit the ground. Self-seeding, they will keep coming back.
