Eggplant, Russian (Astrakom)
(Solanum melongena) These eggplants are smaller than some of the longer eggplant varieties, and make for a good container garden plant, as well as a better short season eggplant. The fruits are glossy purple, tear drop shaped, and grow to around 4”. The name Astrakom comes from the city of Astrakhan, located in Russia, where this particular variety of eggplant was bred.
Planting suggestions: Plant seeds at a depth of ¼” and thin so that plants have around 20” of space in all directions. Eggplants like warm weather, so do not plant outdoors until the danger of frost is past. You can start your eggplant indoors and transplant into 4” pots once they have 2-3 secondary leaves, planting outdoors once the weather is warmer. Eggplants also benefit from cover, as they need warmth to survive and thrive.
Contains 50 seeds.
